Thirty day successes

At our homeschool, I can tell if we are going to be successful with a text or resource after about 30 days. If we have used it daily and are not dropping it to the bottom of the pile by day 30, it is a keeper. Resources that are skipped more than used by the end of a month, are usually skipped for the rest of the year.

This year we have had some really great successes, based on our 30 day test. They are, in no particular order:

Start Exploring Gray's Anatomy (a coloring book with nice, large print, simple, single page anatomy explanations)

Shurley Grammar homeschool level 4

Saxon Math 54 and 65

Using "readers" to get my reluctant reader into the habit of 30 minutes a day

Schoolzone Multiplication/Division cdrom (electronic flashcards)

Online biology textbook used with Max (grade 5 and under)

The History of the United States 2nd edition DVD lecture series from The Teaching Company

Wordsmith and Wordsmith Apprentice

Government by the People by Burns, Peltason, Cronin, Magleby

Consumer Math by Pearson

Accounting by Alpha Omega Press

Hopefully, I will be able to add a few more to this list next semester...
