I remember spending summers as a kid exactly the way I am watching our sons spend their summer. We were outside all day, except when we were hungry, thirsty, or in need of a change of clothes or gear to switch to another sport. We rode bikes, swam, played tennis or basketball or soccer or tag, or any game the kids in the neighborhood made up. It is nice that my kids are really enjoying that experience this year.
Max is going to a half day summer camp for 5 weeks with his friend from the neighborhood. They spend the day doing sports and crafts, and eating. He comes home and eats lunch, then spends his afternoon somewhere in the neighborhood playing with pals until I remind him to come home for dinner. He eats dinner and then spends the evening playing outside until dark.
Josh is getting ready for Encampment with the Civil Air Patrol. They go away for a week of training and fun in early July. Between preparing for camp, playing basketball in the driveway and at the Y, hanging out with friends, doing a little summer school math and reading... his days are also full.

That sounds so pleasant and relaxed! Boys DO eat lots. Isn't it great that they can play outdoors so much?
I have to laugh at the repetitive eating....sounds like my house.
